When Konstantin Shamray first performed in Rockhampton in 2008, it was clear to audience members that they had experienced a very special musical event. Weeks earlier, Shamray had won the first prize of the Sydney International Piano Competition, along with a staggering eight special prizes. Now, two years and many performances later, the young Russian pianist returns to Central Queensland. From Asia to Europe, Shamray has been greeted with audience and critical acclaim. His hectic performance schedule since 2008 has included recitals in Siberia, a tour with the Australian String Quartet, and a recital for the Ruhr Festival in Dusseldorf. In October last year, he performed the technically and musically demanding Concerto No 3 by Rachmaninov in Belgrade. A Rockhampton Regional Council presentation.
Konstantin Shamray’s travel to Australia was supported by Ron, Lynn and Marcus Ogden
