By arrangement with Tams-Witmark New York
CABARET
Book by Joe Masteroff
Based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood
Music by John Kander
Lyrics by Fred Ebb
Director Karen Crone
Musical Director Ross Fleming
Choroegrapher Lita Hegvold

Set in 1930s Germany, in a world on the verge of collapse, Kander and Ebb’s award-winning musical Cabaret is Rockhampton Venues and Events’ 2009 musical.
While the storm clouds of nazism gather, young English singer Sally Bowles performs as the star attraction in the seedy nightclub, the Kit Kat Klub in Berlin. In this haven of decadence, where the customers are determined to keep up appearances while their world crumbles about them, she begins a romance with novelist Clifford Bradshaw.
Cabaret won eight Tony Awards its original season and has continued to win awards and critical and audience acclaim. It is a triumph of musical theatre, full of captivating songs including Wilkommen, Maybe This Time, Tomorrow Belongs to Me and Cabaret.
Central Queensland’s own singers, dancers and actors, star in this unforgettable musical.

“… a strong and daring musical that combines unforgettable songs with genuinely gripping and disturbing drama”

The Seed
A Company B Production

Written by Kate Mulvany
Directed by Iain Sinclair

Meet Rose Maloney. Her dad Danny went to Vietnam. Her grandfather Brian is ex-IRA. Today is their collective birthday, and Rose and Danny have travelled from regional Western Australia to Nottingham, England, to celebrate. And just maybe they’ll find out some of the missing bits of the family story. From this intimate reunion, The Seed opens itself up over and over again until a silent family battle becomes an international story about finding new life amongst the rubble of old wars. The play also lifts the lid on the murky legacy of Agent Orange use in the Vietnam War and its effects on the children of veterans.Hovering behind the exhilarating broil, pain and humour of the action is an image of peace and of beginning again in a new land: father and daughter fishing in a tiny boat on the wide sea off the coast of Western Australia. The Seed won the 2007 Sydney Theatre Awards for Best Independent Production and was shortlisted for the Queensland Premier’s Literary Awards 2008.
Contains strong language and some drug references.

Don’t miss the hilarious celebration of women and The Change.
Could 500,000 Australian women be wrong? That’s the number who have seen this hilarious show over the last two and a half years, and they loved it! So much so, many of the audience members have come back time and time again to join with their sisters in this 90 minute, one act laugh-a-thon! Now it's the turn of regional audiences to join in the fun. Maybe the attraction is the songs that everyone grew up with – The Great Pretender, Only You, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Stand by Your Man, I Will Survive and twenty more – all sung with gusto and all with their ‘new' lyrics. Or maybe it is the realisation that there is a wonderful life waiting after ‘The Change'.Come and see for yourself. We guarantee that you will leave the theatre uplifted and joyous.

Bell Shakespeare’s
The Taming Of The Shrew
Writer William Shakespeare
Director Marion Potts
With Jeanette Cronin and Rebecca Massey

Celebration, festivities and joy. They’re all here as two men come to Padua in pursuit of learning and love. The first, Lucentio, fixes his gaze on Bianca, the sweet and gentle daughter of the merchant Baptista. The second, Petruchio, hears of Bianca’s wanton and wild sister, Kate, and vows to tame her and teach her to be an agreeable wife. All will be married; all will be well.
Or so it would seem. Directed by award-winning director Marion Potts and featuring an all-female cast, this new production of one of Shakespeare’s most controversial comedies transcends expectation and preconception, taking the politics of marriage to ludicrous new heights. Vibrant, energetic and packed with female punch, The Taming Of The Shrew is the perfect night out for anyone who has ever fallen in love and managed to survive it.

Madame Butterfly
Composer Giaccomo Puccini
Director John Bell
Set & Costume Designer Jennie Tate
Designs Realised by Julie Lynch
Lighting Designer Matt Scott
English Translation Peter Hutchinson
Conductor Simon Kenway

Directed by John Bell, Opera Australia's Oz Opera is proud to perform a new production of one of the world's favourite operas, Madame Butterfly.Puccini's moving tale is set in 1946 in the historic city of Nagasaki. Cio-Cio San, a fifteen year old Geisha girl, is married off to Pinkerton, a lieutenant in the victorious American navy. They fall in love, instantly, but when it is time for Pinkerton to go back home, he discards his fragile Butterfly. And so, caught between two worlds, the old and the new, Madame Butterfly waits. One fine day, she knows, he will return...

John Bell explores the work's finely drawn characters against the backdrop of post-war Japan – a visually spectacular clash of traditional geisha designs and modern Western dress – coloured further by Puccini's magnificent score.
Sung in English.
